A hidma bill built from approved timesheet hours

In a law firm, unrecorded time is lost fees. Fee earners reconstruct their week on a Friday, bills go back and forth by email for partner review and WIP builds up while the client waits. hidma brings time recording, bill review and WIP into one place, so more of the work done reaches the bill.

Built for how UK law firms bill

Six-minute units, recorded against the matter

Fee earners record time in six-minute units against the matter and the type of work, such as research, drafting, attendances, court preparation or travel, with a narrative that flows onto the bill. They can record time from their phone between meetings and hearings.

Partner bill review, without the email chain

Share draft bills with the partners and fee earners on a matter. Edit narratives, adjust hours and rates, write off time and preview exactly what the client will receive before the bill goes out.

The right rate, every time

Partner, associate, trainee and paralegal rates are applied automatically, along with client discounts and matter-specific rates. The most specific rate wins: fee earner, then client, then matter, then type of work. Changing a rate does not alter time already recorded.

Disbursements on the same bill

Add court fees, search fees, counsel’s fees and travel to the bill alongside time, and group entries by fee earner, type of work or date.

WIP, lock-up and costs estimates

The WIP report shows unbilled time by client, matter and fee earner, and by age. Unpaid bills are tracked by age too. Set a costs estimate on any matter and the team is alerted as it gets close, so the client hears about it before the bill arrives.

Utilisation and recoverability

See chargeable hours against targets, utilisation and recoverability by fee earner and type of matter, so partners know where time is going and which work pays.

What hidma does not do

hidma is not a case management or legal accounts system. It does not run your client account. You can keep files against each client and matter in hidma, but it is not a full document management system. Most firms keep their accounts and document systems where they are and use hidma for time recording, billing and WIP, with invoices sent to Xero.

Set up with you

Questions UK law firms ask

Can hidma bill in pounds with VAT?

Yes. Bills can be raised in pounds, euro or whichever currency you bill in, with VAT applied.

Does hidma work with Xero?

Yes. Approved bills go to Xero as invoices and payments sync back. QuickBooks is coming soon. See integrations.

How does hidma compare with Clio?

Clio is full practice management, including case management, documents and client account. hidma focuses on time recording, billing and WIP at a lower cost per fee earner. See hidma vs Clio.
